Palatine Chapter #206, R.A.M., had its stated convocation on February 18, 2015.  After a nice dinner the Chapter allowed the Commandery to use the evening.  Later in the meeting the Chapter discussed visiting another Chapter, possibly Cary-Grove #36 would be a good to do.  Performing some community work, such as cleaning up Dundee Rd, was again discussed.  David Truax agreed to be chairman and Jim Newby and Brad Baker agreed to help David, as needed.  We are looking into York Rite Windows for the Lodge building.  Lou Sands is checking into the details of that.  Speaking of making a Chapter visit, we did in fact do that last night on the 16th of March.  We visited Cary-Grove and assisted them in conferring the Most Excellent Master and Royal Arch Degrees on 4 candidates.  Six of our Companions were present.  They were:  Ken Stortz, Russell Schlosser, Andrew Michyeta, Gary Berenger, Ralph Palmer, and Brad Baker.

Loyal L Munn Chapter #96, R.A.M., met on March 4, 2015.  We allocated the meeting to the Commandery who needed it for an Order of the Temple.  We did discuss using a credit card reader for collecting Dues and other fees.  James Newby will check out the logistics of that.  Several Companions of Loyal L Munn also visited Cary-Grove Chapter on the 16th of March and assisted with their 6th and 7th Degrees.  Attending were: Russell Schlosser, Andrew Michyeta, Ralph Palmer, and Brad Baker.  Our next stated Convocation is on April 1, 2015.  We may loan that to the Commandery as well.  We will see.

Cryptic Council #46, C.M. donated its March 4, 2015, Assembly to the Commandery for an Order of the Temple.  Our next   Assembly is April 1, 2015.  We still have one Royal Arch Mason who missed the Council Degrees, so we have that coming up.  We have another Petitioner as well, so we have two to Greet.  Hope to get them done before the summer hits.

Bethel Commandery #36, K.T., conferred the Order of the Temple on Tim Bolton on March 4, 2015.  We did a pretty good job with it with all new Officers in the stations, except for Generalissimo, who is out of town.  Ralph Palmer filled in for that spot.  We did it in exactly 2 1/2 hours, which is perfect.  We have another petitioner from Waukegan that we have to get the Red Cross and Malta done on and then the Order of the Temple.  Plus another who is working through the Chapter Degrees now.  So we have have lots of Work coming up.  Good problem to have.  Four Sir Knights from Bethel Commandery attended an order of the Temple at Joliet on March 12, 2015.  We assisted in Hermits, Escorts, and Guards and in the West.  Attending were: Ken Stortz, Gary Berenger, Ralph Palmer, and Brad Baker.  It was a good evening and a good chance to help our good friend, Bill Poole.  On March 14, 2015, 8 Sir Knights from Bethel Commandery attended the Annual Inspection of Silangan Commandery #93 in Chicago.  We assisted with their Order of the Temple.  Attending were: Gary Berenger, Andrew Michyeta, Jim Newby, Brad Baker, Frank Del Giudice, David Truax, Mark Nokes, and Ken Stortz.  Our March 18th Conclave will be our Annual Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner.  We will let you know how it turns out.  The corned beef is cooking as I am typing.  Our next conclave will be April, 1, 2015.  Not sure what we are doing that night but it could be Red Cross and Malta.  Will let you know next month.  April 15, 2015, is scheduled for an Order of the Temple on one candidate.  Our Annual Inspection is three days later on the 18th of April.  Our Officers have been working hard to perfect themselves.  They are looking good.

Several of us attended Apollo Commandery #1 in Wheaton for their Annual Inspection on February 28th.  Attending were: Frank Del Giudice, Ken Stortz, Ralph Palmer, and Brad Baker

We are all enjoying the new 10 man Opening for Commandery.  We did it in Templar Uniform (as we all should have been doing forever).  The key to this is that we can open with 10 men (or 9 if necessary).  The Grand Encampment Full Form Opening takes about 16-18 Sir Knights to accomplish.  Most Commanderies do not have that many at their conclaves.  This is a workable way to get back to the basics of our chivalric fraternity.

The Grand Commandery has come out with a new award, called the Cross and Crown Award.  The details were read at our last conclave.  This is available to a Commander who performs certain functions and reaches certain goals during the year.

Bethel Commandery has come out with another belt
buckle for sale for benefit of the Knights Templar Eye
Foundation, Inc.  This one is a Royal Arch
Chapter buckle, with the triple tau, and with the
infamous words "Holiness to the Lord"
emblazoned thereon.  This buckle has been commissioned
in honor of Brother, Companion,
and Sir Knight David P. Miller, Past Grand High Priest
and member of the Palatine
York Rite.  It will sell for $50, just
as the Knights
Templar buckle did last year.  We also we able to
obtain a few more Knights Templar buckles since we
had more orders than we could fill.  Let me know if
you are interested.

Our loyal Companion and Sir Knight Jim Newby has volunteered to coordinate the degree work going forward.  Thank you, Jim. He will also work with the Officers of the four respective bodies.  I will help him get started with this task by giving him a list of who does what in our Degrees and Orders.  I told him I would do that and have yet to get it done.  The following is what we have printed for some time.  "As a reminder, at our planning meeting on April 4,
2007, we tentatively decided to appoint one member as
a "Degree Czar" for each of the Palatine York Rite
Bodies.  That would be four individuals.  The thought
was that the number two man in each body would fill
that need.  We need to get more people trained in our
Degree Ritual so we have a backup for each part.
Right now, if certain people are out of town, we are
stuck.  This will also get some of our newer members
actively involved in the affairs of our four York Rite
Bodies.  This will also get the number two man in each
group more prepared for his year as Presiding Officer.
Planning and Preparation.

The York Rite offers many opportunities for us to
serve our fellow man and our communities.  Each of the
Bodies has a charity or several charities that we
support.  Membership in our York Rite Bodies allows us
to fulfill our Obligations and Vows to help those who
are less fortunate.  Let us keep this in our minds as
we go about our daily endeavors.  There is a cloud
surrounding us, that has been built up over the
centuries, that we are a secret organization.  Now is
the time to let those on the outside know who we are.
We should not keep our lamps under the bushel, but
should let our Light so shine before men, that they
may see our good works, and glorify our Father, which
is in Heaven.

Palatine Chapter currently has about 176 members.  L L Munn has about 50 members.  Cryptic Council about 180 members.  Bethel Commandery now has 206 members.  Of these, 94 are life
members and 13 are 50-year members and are exempt from

As a reminder, the new Palatine Masonic Temple is all on one floor and at
ground level.  Therefore it is wheelchair accessible.  No ramp or chairlift
