Loyal L. Munn Chapter #96 had its Officers Installed at our Steak Fry on June 19, 2013.  They are:  James B. Newby-High Priest; Bradley Baker-King; James N. Newby-Scribe; Andrew Michyeta, III-Treasurer; Russell Schlosser-Secretary; Ronald Fraser-Chaplain; Milen Ivanov-Captain of the Host; Mark Kapusta-Principal Sojourner; Benjamin Gates-Royal Arch Captain; Francesco Francone-Master of the 3rd Veil; James Burke-Master of the 2nd Veil; Donald Marquardt-Master of the 1st Veil; Richard Pugh-Steward; Daniel Tice-Sentinel.  As with Palatine Chapter, we are getting set for the Annual Convocation of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter on Friday, the 19th of July at Normal, IL.  We are also dark until September.  See you then!

Cryptic Council #46 had its Officers Installed at our Steak Fry on June 19, 2013.  They are:  Gary Berenger-Thrice Illustrious Master; James N. Newby-Illustrious Deputy Master; James B. Newby-Principal Conductor of the Work; Andrew Michyeta, III-Treasurer; Russell Schlosser-Recorder; Mark Nokes-Chaplain; Frank Del Giudice-Captain of the Guard; Charles Reed-Conductor of Council; Gordon Colditz-Marshal; David Truax-Steward; David Lee-Sentinel.  Many of us attended the Annual Assembly of the Grand Council at Bloomington last weekend.  Our own Louis Sands is now the District Inspector for our area.  Our good friend from Glenview, John Jorgenson, was given a life-time achievement award for his efforts with the Nurses Schlolarship Foundation and was also made an honorary Doctor of the Cryptic Masons University.  Well deserved, John!  The new Grand Master is Mark Welch.  The new Grand Steward is Michael McDermon from Galesburg, IL.  This was the first time in about 40 years that the Grand Council had its Session on a separate weekend from the other two York Rite Bodies.  Hopefully, they can all get back together next year.  Just my opinion.

Bethel Commandery had its Officers Installed at our Steak Fry on June 19, 2013.  They are:  Ralph Palmer-Commander; Gary Berenger-Generalissimo; David Lee-Captain General; James N. Newby-Senior Warden; James B. Newby-Junior Warden; Bradley Baker-Prelate; Louis Sands-Treasurer; Mark Nokes-Recorder; Frank Del Giudice-Standard Bearer; David Truax-Sword Bearer; Charles Reed-Warder; William Trey Higgins, III-Sentinel; Eric Prinzing-Color Bearer.  We are looking forward to the Annual Conclave of the Grand Commandery this weekend on the 20th, at Normal, IL.  Our own Russell Schlosser should be elected Deputy Grand Commander and our own Andrew Michyeta, III, is running for Grand Junior Warden.  Russ should be automatically elected, but we wish Drew the best of luck with his election.  We are also dark for the rest of the summer.  However, we do have a Red Cross and Malta to confer on one candidate, and we may do that in August.  Other than that, see you in September.

Instant update!  I just got back from Normal, IL, and Russ Schlosser is now the Deputy Grand Commander and Andrew Michyeta, III, won the election for Grand Junior Warden of the Grand Commandery.  There were four candidates and it took three ballots.  Andrew Michyeta and Jack Buvelot, of Mizpah #53, both were awarded the G. Wilbur Bell Excalibur Award from the Grand Commandery.  Congratulations Sir Knights.  I am submitting three photos to go along with this article, Drew and Jack, David and Georgianna Miller, and Russ Schlosser in jail at the banquet.

Many members from Bethel Commandery, I believe there were 13, attended the Grand Commandery's tri-state Commandery Day on May 18, 2013, at the Scottish Rite.  The Illustrious Order of the Red Cross was conferred by Wisconsin, the Order of Malta by Illinois, and the Order of the Temple by Indiana, in chain mail.  It was a fine day with 40 candidates.  Bethel had three candidates.

As a result of Ralph Palmer's idea, we have been sending Birthday Cards to the residents of the Illinois Knights Templar Home at Paxton, IL, for the last three months.  We are continuing each month.  Thank you, Ralph.  We also sent Christmas Cards to all the residents in December, also at Ralph's suggestion.

A big thank you to Frank Del Giudice for being our Armorer.  He is doing a fine job of handling our paraphernalia.

I have added some upcoming dates that are obvious, however, we will be letting the Presiding Officers of the four Palatine bodies set the schedule for the rest of the year.  It is really their job and they will feel more as owners of the schedule if they actually do it.

Bethel Commandery has come out with another belt
buckle for sale for benefit of the Knights Templar Eye
Foundation, Inc.  This one is a Royal Arch
Chapter buckle, with the triple tau, and with the
infamous words "Holiness to the Lord"
emblazoned thereon.  This buckle has been commissioned
in honor of Brother, Companion,
and Sir Knight David P. Miller, Past Grand High Priest
and member of the Palatine
York Rite.  It will sell for $50, just as the Knights
buckle did last year.  We also we able to
obtain a few more Knights Templar buckles since we
had more orders than we could fill.  Let me know if
you are interested.

Our loyal Companion and Sir Knight Jim Newby has volunteered to coordinate the degree work going forward.  Thank you, Jim. He will also work with the Officers of the four respective bodies.  The following is what we have printed for some time.  "As a reminder, at our planning meeting on April 4,
2007, we tentatively decided to appoint one member as
a "Degree Czar" for each of the Palatine York Rite
Bodies.  That would be four individuals.  The thought
was that the number two man in each body would fill
that need.  We need to get more people trained in our
Degree Ritual so we have a backup for each part.
Right now, if certain people are out of town, we are
stuck.  This will also get some of our newer members
actively involved in the affairs of our four York Rite
Bodies.  This will also get the number two man in each
group more prepared for his year as Presiding Officer.
Planning and Preparation.

The York Rite offers many opportunities for us to
serve our fellow man and our communities.  Each of the
Bodies has a charity or several charities that we
support.  Membership in our York Rite Bodies allows us
to fulfill our Obligations and Vows to help those who
are less fortunate.  Let us keep this in our minds as
we go about our daily endeavors.  There is a cloud
surrounding us, that has been built up over the
centuries, that we are a secret organization.  Now is
the time to let those on the outside know who we are.
We should not keep our lamps under the bushel, but
should let our Light so shine before men, that they
may see our good works, and glorify our Father, which
is in Heaven.

Palatine Chapter currently has 173 members.  Bethel
Commandery now has 201 members.  Of these, 94 are life
