Lots of good information and historical newsletters.  If you want to add anything contact our Webmaster, Jim Newby.

Palatine Chapter #206, R.A.M. is set to confer the Mark Master and Past Master Degrees this coming Wednesday, the 20th of April.  If my numbers are correct we will have 4 candidates, 3 from Palatine Chapter and 1 from L L Munn Chapter.  By the time you read this it will be over and we will be gearing up to confer the Most Excellent Master Degree on May 4th.  After that the Royal Arch Mason Degree on May 18th.  This has been a very active year for the York Rite in Palatine.  Our Annual Convocation will be on May the 18th.  We will elect Officers and hear reports on how the year went.  Our Annual Convocation of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter will be on July 14th in Normal, IL.  Hope we have a good turnout for that event.  It is always fun!

Loyal L Munn Chapter #96, R.A.M., is also set to confer the Mark Master and Past Master Degrees on April 20th, 2016.  We do this in conjunction with Palatine Chapter.  We always work together.  L L Munn has 1 candidate of the 4 we hope to have on that date.  We also have one of our members that is learning the Principal Sojourner part.  Ben Gates, a member of L L Munn has it.  Good for you, Ben.  We will use Ben on the 18th of May when we are conferring the Royal Arch Mason Degree.  Our former Principal Sojourner was David P. Miller who retired and moved to Sun City, Arizona.  I understand that David routinely performs that part in Arizona.  That kind of good news travels fast.  You represent us well in Arizona, Dave.  Of course, so no one gets the wrong idea, David is a member of Palatine Chapter #206.  However, he never minded helping L L Munn.  He is a good friend to all.  Loyal L Munn Chapter will have its Annual Convocation on May 4th.  I wonder who the next High Priest will be?  I have an idea.

Cryptic Council #46, C.M., will have its next Stated Assembly on May 4th.  That night will be used for the Chapter Degree.  That is OK, we share evenings with each other.  Cryptic Council's Annual Assembly will be on June 1st.  We will elect Officers and hear reports of the year.  In addition, we are scheduled to confer the Royal and Select Master Degrees on a group of candidates that will have recently gone through the Chapter Degrees.  This will be the second time we conferred our Degrees this year.  That is good.  We may have a couple visiting candidates from other Councils.  We will see.  The Annual Assembly of the Grand Council will be on July 15th, Friday, in Normal, IL.  I am looking forward to that fun weekend.

Bethel Commandery #36, K.T., just completed its Annual Inspection this past Saturday, the 16th of April. We have been working hard to get ready for this annual event.  We Knighted Kirk Preston from the Waukegan area.  Kirk has been a friend of ours for many years, being our District Deputy Grand High Priest for a couple years.  Our Officers did a fine job in conferring the Order of the Temple.  Hard work pays off.  We had a nice lunch, prepared by Micki Schlosser.  The highlight was the braunschweiger sandwiches.  How did she know?  Great job!  Bethel Commandery will have its Annual Conclave on June 1st.  We will elect Officers and hear reports of our year's activities.  Our Installation of Officers will be on June 15th, at our Annual Steak Fry.  The other three York Rite Bodies will also be a part of that.  That will wrap up our year.  We are dark until September, in the Fall.  Of course, the Annual Conclave of the Grand Commandery will be on July 16th, in Normal, IL.  Looking forward to that weekend.  It is a lot of fun and it drives home the reason we are Templars.  If you can, come on down.

I cannot talk enough about how the Officers and Sir Knights of Bethel Commandery #36 have demonstrated our principals and beliefs as we have supported our noble Order.  God Bless all of you!

Sir Knights from Bethel Commandery have been continuing to visit other Commanderies' Inspections.  We visited and Worked at Joliet Commandery #4 on March 26th, with Drew Michyeta and Brad Baker present, Trinity Commandery #80 on April 2, with Frank Del Giudice, Gary Berenger, Ralph Palmer, Brad Baker, and Ken Stortz present, and Calvary Commandery #25 on April 9th.  Gary Berenger, Ralph Palmer, Andrew Michyeta, Ken Stortz, Frank Del Giudice, and Brad Baker were present.

First Division Inspections for the remainder of the year are:

4-23-16    St Elmo #64

We are all enjoying the new 10 man Opening for Commandery.  We did it in Templar Uniform (as we all should have been doing forever).  The key to this is that we can open with 10 men (or 9 if necessary).  The Grand Encampment Full Form Opening takes about 16-18 Sir Knights to accomplish.  Most Commanderies do not have that many at their conclaves.  This is a workable way to get back to the basics of our chivalric fraternity.  It is our understanding that this Opening will be used again this year. It is being slightly revised and updated and will be labelled 10-Man Opening 2015.  The latest Version is dated 11-15-15.

The Grand Commandery has come out with a new award, called the Cross and Crown Award.  This is available to a Commander who performs certain functions and reaches certain goals during the year.  It is our understanding that this Award will be available in 2015/2016, as well.  This past year our own Gary Berenger won that Award.  The only recipient in the State of Illinois.  Congratulations, Gary!

Bethel Commandery has come out with another belt
buckle for sale for benefit of the Knights Templar Eye
Foundation, Inc.  This one is a Royal Arch
Chapter buckle, with the triple tau, and with the
infamous words "Holiness to the Lord"
emblazoned thereon.  This buckle has been commissioned
in honor of Brother, Companion,
and Sir Knight David P. Miller, Past Grand High Priest
and member of the Palatine
York Rite.  It will sell for $50, just
as the Knights
Templar buckle did last year.  We also we able to
obtain a few more Knights Templar buckles since we
had more orders than we could fill.  Let me know if
you are interested.

Our loyal Companion and Sir Knight Jim Newby had volunteered some time ago to coordinate the Degree work.  I really did not give him what he needed to get started on this.  However, I will work on getting that done.  Jim will be going out of the office of Commander in a couple months.  He will need something to do and I will give him what he needs to do that.  So Mote it Be!

The York Rite offers many opportunities for us to
serve our fellow man and our communities.  Each of the
Bodies has a charity or several charities that we
support.  Membership in our York Rite Bodies allows us
to fulfill our Obligations and Vows to help those who
are less fortunate.  Let us keep this in our minds as
we go about our daily endeavors.  There is a cloud
surrounding us, that has been built up over the
centuries, that we are a secret organization.  Now is
the time to let those on the outside know who we are.
We should not keep our lamps under the bushel, but
should let our Light so shine before men, that they
may see our good works, and glorify our Father, which
is in Heaven.

Palatine Chapter currently has about 176 members.  L L Munn has about 56 members.  Cryptic Council about 200 members.  Bethel Commandery now has 198 members.  Of these, 94 are life
members and 13 are 50-year members and are exempt from Dues.

As a reminder, the new Palatine Masonic Temple is all on one floor and at
ground level.  Therefore it is wheelchair accessible.  No ramp or chair lift
